Difficult moments bring with them opportunities for dramatic change within the mind. The hazy space in front of us transforms into a refining frontier of deep emotions. It may be a quiet, barely recognizable sliver of reward which beckons us to cross the point of no return. But it is often enough to invite us into a new way of existing in the liminal space of transformation. We grow tired of the way we have shown up in our circles of life. We grow weary of all the seemingly insignificant barriers which halt our movement forward. And so we choose. At some point, we finally scream “enough!” Our protest is often quieter to everyone’s ears but ours. The retort is better understood within our own imaginations. With that one decision, and with the fortitude which follows, we carve a new way of living. Haltingly at first, continuous with time, this unknown stride becomes the way we move. Filled with purpose, saturated with meaning, our mind now sees challenge as opportunity; confusion as the way to learn something new. “We have nothing to fear but fear itself,” the greats before us whisper to our spark of indecision. This will be the new way of walking. We know this for sure. The new way is truer and more alive than the path behind. We require this rescue from old habits and tired defenses. Rehabilitation hurts, but it is everything our soul desires. This is the new way. - JLT #new #habits #change #transformation #fear #rehabilitation

eFear.
The space between perceived control and the abandon of implied chaos. The tentacles of anxiety reach up and out and in, choking the actual reality of waiting. Waiting for the test. The result. The cure. Thoughts race as time slows, reinforcing the need to let go. Let go of all notions of control, besides the choosing of peaceful thoughts. Worry less, pray more, so the saying goes. This is the way I go too. -JLT #fear #control #anxiety #waiting #peace #pray |
